Patersons HR and Payroll Solutions’ CEO to Be Featured on Bill Kutik Radio Show

Market Wire, October, 2009

Patersons HR and Payroll Solutions, a
leading global HR and payroll software and services business that can
deliver expert solutions to clients in more than 160 countries, today
announced that CEO and founder
Karen Paterson will be the featured guest on this week’s ” The
Bill Kutik Radio Show (SM).”

“The Bill Kutik Radio Show” is a bi-weekly online talk show hosted by Bill
Kutik, the leading independent analyst in the HR Technology marketplace.
Produced by Knowledge Infusion’s Center of Excellence, the show features
unedited and unrehearsed conversations with some of the industry’s key
thought leaders, including executives from leading technology providers.

“Karen is a pioneer in her field who, not afraid to challenge the big guns
in the industry, designed the world’s first Internet-based global payroll
management system. She has continued to drive Patersons’ global expansion
and last December, she secured $30 million in venture capital, an
impressive feat during tough economic times. I look forward to hearing
Karen’s views, including the best practices that she’s created during her
more than twelve years in the global payroll industry,” commented Kutik.

Karen Paterson proved the impossible by designing a global system that runs
multi-regional payroll rules for multiple clients on one database and one
instance of source code worldwide, regardless of the number of countries or
currencies involved. Revered as a forerunner of the next-generation of
payroll and HR management, her technology and business acumen served her
well and — despite tremendous odds and being up against large, publicly
held competitors — she has driven Patersons HR and Payroll’s global
expansion.

“Bill is a highly affiliate radio regarded thought leader in HR technology and I am
thrilled to have the opportunity to be on his show. I look forward to
discussing the challenges of paying employees globally, something that is
becoming increasingly important as more companies expand around the world,”
commented Paterson.

The show will air Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at noon ET. More information,
including a link to listen, can be found at

Kutik Radio Show” is also available on iTunes as a single podcast or by

WHEN Victoria Kenny sat down in front of the TV, the only drama she was expecting was courtesy of EastEnders.

But then she sneezed – and left herself virtually bedridden for most of the next two years. The 53-year-old mother of three told yesterday how the sneeze caused a ruptured disc in thermage her spine, which resulted in her sciatic nerve being trapped between vertebrae. Her misery only ended this year when she underwent surgery to fit a lightweight plastic ‘cage’ to her spine.

Mrs Kenny had been watching EastEnders with husband Alan, 52, at their home in Sussex, England, in April 2007 when it happened.

I’m going to be Mike Tyson’s minder! UK tour dates for Rawthorpe coach

Huddersfield Daily Examiner (Huddersfield, England), Oct 29, 2009

Byline: MEL BOOTH

HUDDERSFIELD’S Mark Reynolds will be a minder next week – for Mike Tyson!

The 42-year-old founder and coach of Rawthorpe Amateur Boxing Club is escorting former world heavyweight champion Tyson on a promotional tour of the UK.

A trip to Doncaster is included, when Tyson – now 43 and retired from competitive boxing for four years – will be using the Rawthorpe club minibus and members of the Huddersfield club will meet him.

“It’s a massive thrill to be asked to help out and we’ll be travelling around for eight days,” explained Newsome-based Reynolds.

“When you talk of someone like Mike Tyson, it’s a bit like Elvis, Michael Jackson or Mohammed Ali – almost everyone on the planet has heard of them.

“When I get back from Cyprus on Monday I’m travelling straight down south to link up with his people.

“I don’t know exactly what the itinerary is or what’s going to happen, so I’ve got suits galore, dozens of shirts and cases of stuff packed to cover for any eventuality.”

Wolverhampton, Belfast and Cardiff are three of the venues for Tyson, who first won the WBC world title belt at kruger national park safari 20 and was the subject of a highly-acclaimed documentary ‘Tyson’ which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival last year.

“It’s an exciting week to look forward to,” continued Reynolds, who set up the Rawthorpe club 11 years ago and who has just taken over from Barry McGuigan as president of the British Boxers Association (which helps fighters when they retire from the ring).

“I suppose some people might say I’m acting as a minder for Mike Tyson, but there will be a lot of people around him, as always, and I’m just there to help out in any way I can, which will be a great experience for me.”

Reynolds and one of Tyson’s current management share a mutual friend, hence the invitation.

“If all goes to plan I think we come to Doncaster next Thursday, when we’ll be helping out with the Rawthorpe ABC minibus,” he added.

“Some of the lads from the club will be coming down to meet Mike, which will be great for them, and I’m going to keep a diary of everything that goes on during the week, with details of who we’ve met and where we’ve been.”

‘Iron’ Mike Tyson . Mike Tyson was born on June 30, 1966. Boxing career started at 1982 Olympics when he won a silver medal. He turned pro in 1985 and won his first 19 fights by knockouts – 12 of them in the first round. Became youngest-ever boxer at 20 to hold world WBC, WBA and IBF heavyweight titles. Lost title in 1990 to Buster Douglas in Tokyo

Anorexia risk ‘higher if mother diets’

0 Comments | Daily Mail (London, England), The, Oct 29, 2009

MOTHERS who diet are almost twice as likely to buy phentermine 37.5 have daughters who suffer from an eating disorder, researchers have claimed.

A survey of more than 500 girls aged 12 to 18 found that 6 per cent had an eating disorder – but this rose to one in ten among those whose mothers dieted.

The poll for teen magazine Sugar also revealed that 51 per cent had dieted at some stage. This increased to 59 per cent among girls whose mothers also dieted.

One contributor to the survey, Jo, 17, said: ‘I was diagnosed with anorexia last year and am only just starting to eat properly again.

‘Mum blames herself because she was bulimic several years ago, and she constantly talked about her fear of being fat. It meant that I saw food as something to be scared of.’ Almost eight out of ten girls worried about their weight, the survey showed, and one in five said they were criticised by family members for being ‘too big’.

Some 9 per cent of teenage girls said they were ‘constantly’ on a diet – a figure that almost tripled among girls whose families commented on their weight.

Almost four out of ten said their mother was the biggest influence on how they perceived themselves.

Sugar editor Annabel Brog said: ‘It stands to reason a girl’s “thin-heritance” – the attitude to food and body shape she is exposed to day after day in her home – is going to be more powerful than anything we can print in a magazine.’
